Alkali Joins Yobe Gubernatorial Race Amid Consensus Collapse

Former Inspector General of Police, Alkali, has officially joined the gubernatorial race in Yobe State, stating that consensus discussions among the aspirants have failed. During a press briefing in Damaturu, he revealed that four aspirants had already obtained their nomination forms, indicating a breakdown of earlier agreements aimed at producing a consensus candidate.

Alkali explained that the party's consensus model, which is based on voluntary agreements among aspirants to support a single candidate, did not materialize. He urged party members to remain committed and supportive throughout the primary election process, regardless of whether the primaries occur as scheduled.

Alkali arrived in Damaturu over the weekend to verify the validity of his nomination form in accordance with party guidelines and relevant stakeholders. He emphasized that his decision to proceed is contingent on the current agreement terms and the support he receives from party leaders and aspirants.
