Usman Alkali Joins Yobe Governorship Race Amid Consensus Failures

Usman Alkali, the former Inspector General of Police, has officially joined the Yobe governorship race following the breakdown of consensus discussions among the aspirants. He disclosed this information while speaking to journalists in Damaturu.

Alkali noted that four aspirants had already acquired nomination forms, indicating a failure to reach an earlier agreement aimed at producing a consensus candidate. He explained that the party's consensus model was based on voluntary agreements among aspirants to support a single candidate, which ultimately did not materialize.

Alkali arrived in Damaturu over the weekend to verify the validity of his nomination form in accordance with party guidelines and relevant stakeholders. He emphasized that his decision to proceed depends on the current agreement terms and urged support from party leaders and aspirants throughout the primary election process, regardless of whether the primaries take place as scheduled or otherwise.
