Former PDP Chairman Bamanga Tukur Dies at 90

Bamanga Tukur, a prominent Nigerian politician and businessman, died at the age of 90 on September 12, 2026. His family, through Hon. Awwal D.

Tukur, announced his passing, stating that arrangements were being made for his burial in Yola, Adamawa State. Tukur's career included serving as the governor of the old Gongola State from October 1983 until the military coup in December of the same year.

He was also a Minister of Industries during General Sani Abacha's military regime in the 1990s. Tukur was known for his leadership roles in various organizations, including the Nigerian Ports Authority, where he served as General Manager and Chief Executive.

He was involved in promoting private-sector participation in Africa's economic development and held positions in the African Business Roundtable and NEPAD Business Group. His family expressed gratitude for the condolences received and prayed for his forgiveness and acceptance into Aljannatul Firdaus.
