NDC Won't Join G100 Alliance, Dickson Says Ahead of 2027 Race

The Nigeria Democratic Congress will not participate in the G100 Alliance's push for a single opposition presidential candidate in 2027, according to party National Leader Senator Seriake Dickson. Speaking on Arise Television's Prime Time on Wednesday, Dickson stated that the NDC has already resolved internal matters by finalising its candidate selections and now intends to pursue victory using its established ticket.
Dickson acknowledged that the G100's initiative—an effort by a coalition of opposition figures to unite around one candidate—is conceptually sound and the NDC supports the thinking behind it. However, he emphasised that the party possesses the strength and competitive advantage needed to win without joining such an alliance.
The NDC's strategy, he explained, centres on leveraging what he described as a robust and marketable set of candidates. The NDC leader also clarified his personal political positioning ahead of the election cycle.
Dickson distanced himself from both the Obidient movement, which backs presidential candidate Peter Obi, and the Kwankwasiyya movement aligned with running mate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. He underlined that while both groups represent supporters within the NDC's broader coalition, his own commitment remains exclusively to the party's institutional goals and campaign efforts.
Dickson's statements reflect a deliberate separation of the NDC from wider opposition coordination efforts. His remarks signal that the party intends to contest as a distinct entity rather than subordinating its ambitions to a multi-party consensus framework.
The NDC's internal candidate selection process has been completed, positioning the party to campaign on its established platform throughout the remainder of the election cycle.
