Saleh Mamman Seeks Dismissal of Fraud Charges in Court

Saleh Mamman, the former Minister of Power, has requested the Federal High Court to dismiss fraud charges amounting to N31.7 billion against him. His defense argues that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has failed to present a prima facie case linking him to the alleged fraud.

During the proceedings, Justice James Omotosho upheld objections raised by the defense regarding the prosecution's witnesses, particularly concerning the testimony of Abdulkareem Ibrahim Ozi. The defense counsel emphasized the need to subpoena witnesses to clarify contradictions in the evidence presented.

The prosecution, led by Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, objected to the defense's request, stating that the process was an abuse of court procedures. The case involves allegations that Mamman conspired to siphon funds from the Federal Ministry of Power using various private companies.

The trial has been adjourned until March 9, where the defense is expected to present its case.
