Lawan Withdraws from Yobe Guber Race, Backs Consensus Candidate

Ahmed Lawan, the former Senate President, has officially withdrawn from the Yobe governorship race, where he was a contender for the APC governorship ticket. This decision came after a meeting with party stakeholders in Damaturu, where it was agreed to support a consensus candidate.

Lawan had previously indicated his interest in succeeding the current governor, Mai Mala Buni, who is the chief executive of Yobe State. Following the consensus arrangement, Lawan committed to supporting whoever the party leadership prefers as the governorship candidate.

Additionally, he announced that he would not contest for the senatorial ticket and will fully support the party's candidates in the upcoming elections. This move reflects a spirit of integration and responsibility within the party as they prepare for the elections.
