Minister Alausa Accused of Plotting to Alter Nigerian Education System to Favor UBEC

In an exclusive report, Minister of Education, Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa, is accused of plotting to alter the Nigerian education system by placing the senior secondary school level under the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to benefit the new Executive Secretary, Aisha Garba.

Alausa, who was allegedly appointed by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024, proposed this change during an extraordinary National Council on Education meeting in Abuja on February 6, 2025. The move involves changing the current 9-3-4 education system to a 6-3-3-4 system, reducing the senior secondary school years from three to one.

This proposal has faced opposition from state education commissions, with concerns raised about the sudden changes and the alleged ulterior motives behind the move. There are speculations that Alausa's actions are politically motivated, possibly linked to his rumored interest in the Lagos State governorship race.

The plan also involves increasing funds for UBEC, which has raised suspicions of a hidden agenda.
