Experts Advocate Custom AI Systems for African Healthcare

During a webinar organized by Newmark Group, experts stressed the critical need for widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in healthcare delivery across Africa. Daniel Marfo, co-founder of RX Health Info System, urged medical practitioners to consider AI tools that are custom-built according to treatment plan guidelines specific to their countries.

He emphasized that AI systems should be central to health data management, capable of analyzing macro-level decisions made by policymakers. Marfo noted that AI can significantly enhance the review and assessment of medical imaging, such as X-rays and MRIs, to identify critical health issues.

Afriyi Karikari Bempah, founder of Aduro Analytics, pointed out the importance of training AI on local data to protect patient information and maintain the reputation of healthcare institutions. Gilbert Manirakiza, CEO of Newmark Group, highlighted the necessity of building custom-made AI platforms that utilize relevant local data to address significant issues not only in healthcare but across various sectors.
