FAAC Allocates N17tn in 2026, N518bn for Infrastructure

In the first half of 2026, the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) allocated about N17.07 trillion to the federal, state, and local governments, as well as other statutory beneficiaries. Sub-national governments received N518 billion specifically for infrastructure funding in May and June.

Monthly disbursement statements from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation revealed that gross allocations increased from N2.59 trillion in January to N3.40 trillion in June, driven by statutory revenue and other inflows. Notably, N750 billion was allocated to security-related funds, including N250 billion for a Military Intervention Fund in May and N500 billion for a National Security Emergency Fund in June.

The allocations for each month varied, with the highest distribution occurring in June at N3.395 trillion. The federal government, states, and local governments received significant portions of these funds, but specific details regarding the projects financed by the infrastructure and security funds were not disclosed.
