Akande Defends Osinbajo Against Lawal's Allegations

Laolu Akande, who served as the media aide to former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo during the Muhammadu Buhari administration, responded to allegations made by Babachir Lawal, the ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation. Akande described Lawal's claims as fabrications and stated that the records of the Buhari administration contradict these allegations.

He emphasized his direct involvement in the decisions being questioned, particularly regarding Osinbajo's 2022 presidential ambitions. Akande asserted that Buhari had offered support for Osinbajo's candidacy multiple times, countering Lawal's claim that Buhari found Osinbajo's ambition immoral.

He recalled Buhari praising Osinbajo's campaign during a Federal Executive Council meeting in 2022. Additionally, Akande challenged Lawal's account of a memo concerning staff appointments in the Vice President's office, labeling it false and insisting no such memo existed.
