Akande Refutes Lawal's Claims on Buhari's Support for Osinbajo

Laolu Akande, who served as the spokesperson for former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, responded to allegations made by Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, regarding Muhammadu Buhari's support for Osinbajo's 2023 presidential ambition. In a statement, Akande described Lawal's claims as false and based on fabrications.

He asserted that he was present during key decision-making processes and directly witnessed Buhari's support for Osinbajo. Akande emphasized that Buhari had personally offered his support on multiple occasions, stating, "If I don’t support you, who will I support?" He also noted that Buhari praised Osinbajo's campaign approach during the APC presidential primaries in 2022, contradicting Lawal's assertion that Buhari found Osinbajo's ambition distasteful.

Akande's response aimed to clarify the record regarding Buhari's stance on Osinbajo's presidential aspirations.
