The incident gained traction after a TikTok video featuring a group displaying red underwear outside the Kano Government House went viral, mocking Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. The phrase "tsula's pant," used derogatorily, became a rallying cry in the video.

Teemah Cool, a TikTok influencer, defended the display, stating she did not regret her actions. The Kano State Government criticized the act as foolish and indicative of declining political standards.

The narrative surrounding the underwear distribution was confirmed to be false, with the images being digitally altered to misrepresent the situation.
