El-Rufai Admits Associates Tapped NSA Ribadu's Phone

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, admitted that his associates tapped the phone of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. This revelation came after a failed attempt to arrest El-Rufai at Abuja International Airport upon his arrival from Cairo.

El-Rufai stated that he declined to accompany security agents who attempted the arrest and claimed that they seized his passport. He accused Ribadu of directing a security operation against him, alleging that Ribadu had become a tool for the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) in corrupt practices.

El-Rufai clarified that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was not involved in the alleged attempt to detain him, noting that the EFCC had invited him to respond to a letter on Monday. He emphasized that the operation to detain him was ordered by the Department of State Services (DSS) and acknowledged the illegal use of interception technology against Ribadu.
