Senate Denies Petition on Alleged Fake Agency PFIPC

On Tuesday, the Nigerian Senate, through spokesperson Yemi Adaramodu, clarified that there is no petition before them concerning the alleged fake agency known as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). The controversy revolves around claims that the agency's director general, Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew, is non-existent.

Allegations surfaced that the PFIPC sought to collect N400 million and demanded N1.3 billion in the 2026 budget. Senate members, including Chief of Staff to the President Bola Tinubu and Chief of Staff to the Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, disowned the agency, raising alarms about its legitimacy.

Adaramodu confirmed that the Senate does not engage in disputes over non-existent agencies and emphasized that the budget line in question was not created by the National Assembly. The Senate's role does not include screening or confirming appointments for such alleged positions.
