NAFDAC Dismantles Counterfeit Alcohol Operation in Lagos

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) uncovered a residential building at 322B Meiran Road, Agbado, Oke Odo, Lagos, used for storing empty alcoholic beverage bottles suspected to be intended for the production of counterfeit drinks. In a video posted on NAFDAC’s official page, Kunle Ojo, Assistant Director of the agency’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, reported that over 100 sacks of empty bottles were discovered and subsequently destroyed to prevent their reuse.
Ojo stated that the building was located in a secluded residential area and was identified through credible intelligence regarding ongoing nefarious activities. He described the various types of bottles found, including those for Action Bitters and Hennessy, which were being cleaned and prepared for supply to counterfeiters.
Ojo urged Nigerians to report suspicious activities to NAFDAC to combat the issue of counterfeit alcoholic beverages. This discovery is part of a series of operations conducted by NAFDAC in October.
