Falana Challenges APC, PDP to Prove They’re Not Terrorist Groups

Prominent lawyer Femi Falana SAN has challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to prove they are not terrorist organizations, following a Canadian court ruling. The Canadian Federal Court described the two major Nigerian political parties as entities engaged in conduct amounting to terrorism under Canadian law.

Falana urged the parties to address the serious concerns raised by the judge instead of dismissing the pronouncement as ignorant or mischievous. He highlighted that the ruling has consequences beyond judicial recognition, as terrorism prevention laws in Nigeria include the use of violence for political gain.

Falana criticized the APC and PDP for their violent tactics during elections, including rigging and intimidation. He warned that the ruling could lead to widespread denial of visas and deportation of Nigerians who are members of these parties in countries like the US, UK, and France.

Falana called on the federal government to urgently engage immigration lawyers to intervene in the matter and advised the APC and PDP to adopt.
