Falana Threatens Legal Action Over Judges' Luxury Housing

Femi Falana, a human rights lawyer, has threatened to sue the Federal Government over the allocation of newly built luxury houses for judges in the Katampe District of Abuja. In a video shared on Thursday, Falana criticized the government for extending exclusive housing benefits to judges, categorizing it as discriminatory and illegal.

He expressed concern over the unequal treatment of public servants, stating that judges should not receive preferential housing accommodations while other public servants, such as professors, struggle without adequate housing. Falana emphasized that the law should be applied equally across the board, insisting that the government should not extend privileges based on class.

He pointed out that while judges are entitled to comfortable living conditions, civil servants who have served for decades receive no such benefits. The housing project, initiated by the Federal Capital Territory Administration under Minister Nyesom Wike, includes 40 judges' quarters and has already been commissioned by President Bola Tinubu.
