Falconets Beat Senegal 2-1 to Qualify for U20 World Cup

The Nigerian U20 women's football team, known as the Falconets, triumphed over Senegal with a 2-1 victory on Saturday in Diamniadio, securing their qualification for the final round of the African qualifiers for the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup. This win followed a 3-1 aggregate victory, as they had previously defeated Senegal 1-0 in the first leg held in Abeokuta a week earlier.

Ifeanyi opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 19th minute with a header from a corner kick, replicating her earlier performance at the MKO Abiola Stadium. In the second half, Tumininu Adeshina scored Nigeria's second goal, also from a corner kick.

Senegal managed to pull one back with a goal in the final quarter of the match, but it was merely a consolation. The Falconets will now face Malawi in the final round, who edged out Guinea Bissau in their fixture.

The final tournament is scheduled to take place in Poland in September.
