Family Urges Lagos to Honor Teslim Balogun's Legacy

The family of Teslim Balogun, a legendary Nigerian footballer, has called on the Lagos State Government to preserve his legacy as they commemorate the 27th anniversary of his passing. During a press conference in Lagos on Sunday, family spokesman Kayod Zegg Balogun expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government for immortalizing Teslim Balogun's name through the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere.

He urged the government to ensure the stadium remains well-maintained and not allowed to deteriorate. Olamid Balogun, Teslim's brother, paid tribute to their mother, Alhaja Mulikat Balogun, who raised eight children alone after Teslim's death, ensuring they received education.

Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, President of the Nigeria Football Support Club, praised Alhaja Mulikat for her significant role in her husband's success and the development of football in Nigeria.

Alhaji Mufutau Kadiku also acknowledged her influence, recalling her efforts to persuade Teslim to return to Nigeria from England in 1958, leading to Western Nigeria's victory in the Challenge Cup.
