FBI Investigates Ex-Counterterror Chief Joseph Kent

The FBI has initiated an investigation into Joseph Kent, the former U.S. Counterterrorism Chief, after his resignation on a Tuesday in protest of the Iran war.

Kent's resignation, which occurred earlier this month, was reportedly influenced by his belief that Iran does not pose an immediate threat to the United States. He claimed that the conflict was driven by external pressures, particularly from Israel, which he argued influenced U.S. decisions regarding military action.

In response to Kent's resignation, President Donald Trump characterized him as weak on security. White House Press Secretary Karolin Leavitt dismissed Kent's claims as false, asserting that the decision to engage in war was based on strong intelligence indicating that Iran was preparing to attack the United States.

Kent, a former special forces soldier appointed by Trump to lead the National Counterterrorism Center, has maintained that there is no intelligence suggesting an imminent attack from Iran.
