FCT Council Polls Confirm Support for Tinubu's Reforms

The recent FCT Council elections have been characterized as a strong endorsement of President Bola Tinubu's reform agenda by the All Progressives Congress (APC). The elections, held on February 21, 2026, resulted in the APC winning chairmanship positions in five area councils: Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Kuje, Abaji, Bwari, and Kwali.

Goshw Yilwatda, the APC chairman, emphasized that the results reflect growing public confidence in the administration's renewed hope agenda. The elections were conducted peacefully and credibly, with Christoph Maikalangu of the APC being re-elected as AMAC chairman, receiving 40,295 votes out of 62,861 valid votes.

Other notable victories included Nuhu Daniel in Kwali and Joshua Ishaku in Bwari. The APC's success in these elections is seen as a testament to the party's grassroots strength and organizational capabilities, with Yilwatda commending the support from party leaders and stakeholders across the states involved.
