APC Wins Abuja Municipal Area Council Election

In the Abuja Municipal Area Council elections held on February 21, 2026, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured the chairmanship seat with Christoph Maikalangu as the elected chairman. Maikalangu received 40,295 votes, the highest among the candidates, while the total number of valid votes cast was 62,861.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results, confirming Maikalangu's victory. The second-place candidate, Mr.

Mose Paul from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), garnered 12,109 votes, followed by candidates from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties. The total votes cast were 65,197, with 65,676 accredited voters from a registered voter base of 837,338.

Gambo Babal, an APC collating agent, described the electoral process as credible and transparent. The APC's victory in this election is seen as a positive indicator for the party's prospects in the upcoming 2025 elections.
