FCT ground rent: We’ve given enough time – Wike threatens to seal up properties

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has threatened to seal properties whose owners are defaulting on ground rent payments in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Despite giving ample time for debt settlement, Wike stated that properties in the FCT may be sealed if owners have not paid ground rent for the past 10 to 43 years.

Following the sealing of default properties, President Bola Tinubu intervened and granted a 14-day extension for debt settlement. However, Wike emphasized that enough time has been given to defaulters and urged them to settle their debts promptly.

The FCT Administration is in dire need of funds for development projects, according to Wike, who has instructed the director of land in Abuja to provide a list of defaulters for immediate action.
