Abuja Residents Ignore Wike's Movement Restrictions in Polls

During the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) polls, Abuja residents defied the movement restriction order issued by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Reports indicated that commercial vehicles, tricycles, and motorcycles operated freely across various areas, including Airport Road, Jikwoyi, Nyanya, Kuje, and Gwagwalada.

Traffic flowed without barricades, although security personnel were observed blocking roads to force motorists to use single lanes. Despite the movement of vehicles, businesses remained closed, with shop owners locking up, although some services like laundry and point-of-sale operations continued along parts of Airport Road.

By 8:00 AM, five voters were reported at a central polling unit, with two being political party agents. Andrew Jame, a voter at a polling unit, expressed disappointment over the absence of INEC officials, noting that voting had not commenced at six polling units in the community.

By 8:33 AM, INEC officials were seen briefing party agents on electoral guidelines.
