Tinubu Commissions Bwari Water Project, Promises Change

On Tuesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissioned the Bwari Township Water Supply Network Project in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). During the ceremony, he reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ensuring that infrastructure development reaches all parts of the nation’s capital, highlighting access to clean water as a fundamental right.

The project, which includes a newly completed 198-kilometer water pipeline network constructed by China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC), will provide potable water to Bwari and surrounding communities, linking directly to the Lower Usuma Dam. Tinubu noted that previous administrations had focused on developing Abuja's city center while neglecting satellite communities.

He stated that the project would improve public health by reducing waterborne diseases and eliminate reliance on costly private boreholes, creating approximately 1,600 direct and indirect jobs during its execution. The Bwari project is the third major water intervention completed under the current administration, following the rehabilitation of the Abuja city water system and the commissioning of the Karu satellite town water project.
