Federal and Benue Governments Sign MoU for SIPC Program

On a recent date, the Federal Government and the Benue State Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement the Sustainable Integrated Productive Community (SIPC) program. The signing took place in Makurdi, Benue State, with Chief Solomon Iorpev serving as the technical advisor to the Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia.

The MoU was signed on behalf of the Federal Government by Dr. Dori Uzoka Anit, the Minister of State for Finance.

The SIPC program aims to enhance agricultural productivity and increase viability in Benue State, which is one of two pilot states for the initiative. The program is designed to provide better conditions for farmers, including solar-powered housing, seedlings, inputs, fertilizers, herbicides, and off-takers to convert produce into secondary products.

Governor Alia pledged to provide 100 hectares of land for the program, which aligns with the vision of making Benue State an agricultural hub in Africa. The SIPC will also assist internally displaced persons (IDPs) by creating safe farming communities.
