Benue Commissioner Calls for Collaboration in Agriculture

Dr. Benjamin Ashav, the Benue State Commissioner for Agriculture, called for stronger collaboration among government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to advance women's empowerment in agriculture.

This appeal was made during a meeting in Makurdi, where he highlighted the vision of Governor Hyacinth Alia. The administration prioritizes agricultural food security and child feeding programs, particularly for vulnerable groups.

Ashav urged relevant MDAs and stakeholders to engage in policy formulation and implementation to accelerate growth in the agricultural sector. He assured that the ministry is ready to provide necessary technical support for farming schemes across the state.

Additionally, the government plans to allocate suitable land for genuine groups and investors to support agricultural initiatives. Hon.

Mr. Theresa Ikwu, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, disclosed plans to acquire 500 hectares of land to empower women in cultivating crops such as ginger, bambara nut, and soybean.
