Nigerian Government Launches Training for 500 Youths

The federal government of Nigeria, in collaboration with the Bank of Industry (BOI) and the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD), has launched a pilot empowerment program aimed at providing free vocational and entrepreneurial training to 500 young Nigerians. This initiative, named the BOI Youth Empowerment Pilot Programme, was announced in Lagos and will be executed by Sapphital, a digital learning and technology company based in Abuja.
The training will take place at the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA) and will consist of short, instructor-led video courses focused on high-demand skills in creative and artisan fields, production, manufacturing, and digital sectors. Participants will also receive mentorship and enterprise support to facilitate their transition into employment or entrepreneurship.
Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande emphasized the administration's commitment to youth empowerment, while Dr. Olasupo Olusi, managing director of BOI, highlighted the importance of equipping young Nigerians with necessary skills to foster economic growth.
