Nigeria Launches ₦50m Student Venture Capital Grant in Partnership with Google

The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced a ₦50 million Student Venture Capital Grant to assist students in developing commercially viable solutions in STEM fields. The initiative, led by the Federal Ministry of Education's Director of Press and Public Relations, Folashad Boriowo, offers equity-free grants to students across accredited tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The government has also partnered with Google to enhance the program by providing expert mentorship, access to tools, and a support system for scaling ideas. This collaboration aims to empower Nigerian students in the global innovation landscape.

Additionally, a separate AI fund of ₦100 million was launched to support AI-driven startups, with Google contributing $10 million and offering access to AI tools and mentorship.
