Nigeria Seeks N150bn for Vaccine Funding in Health Sector Boost

The Nigerian Federal Government, led by Wale Edun, is seeking to secure around N150 billion to finance vaccine procurement for the years 2025-2026. This initiative is part of efforts to strengthen the country's health sector, with a significant increase in the health budget by nearly 60% to improve basic healthcare provision and immunization activities.

The government aims to reduce reliance on foreign aid, promote local solutions, and enhance domestic production of medicines, vaccines, and health technologies. The move also includes encouraging state and local governments to invest more in health, education, water, sanitation, and nutrition.

Prof. Muhammad Pate emphasized the importance of innovative financing options and fiscal measures to support these healthcare initiatives.
