Federal High Court Opens Registries for Pre-Election Cases

The Federal High Court of Nigeria has announced that it will open its registries on weekends and public holidays to allow for the filing of pre-election cases in preparation for the 2027 general elections. This decision, communicated in a statement signed by Chief Registrar Yahaya Shafa on Thursday, aims to expedite the legal process concerning pre-election matters.

The court will operate from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM during these times to ensure that political parties can meet statutory timelines for filing and determining pre-election cases. This move comes as various political parties across the country have intensified their preparations for the upcoming elections, with several already conducting primaries for governorship, national assembly, and state assembly positions.
