FG Implements Kaduna Model to Identify Out-of-School Kids

The Federal Government of Nigeria has adopted the household mapping model from Kaduna State as the national framework for identifying out-of-school children. This decision, announced by the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, on Thursday following a meeting with Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, marks a shift from estimate-based planning to data-driven interventions.

The Federal Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the National Bureau of Statistics, will conduct a nationwide household mapping exercise across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to determine the exact number of out-of-school children and their households. Alausa emphasized that this initiative would provide verified data to guide policy decisions and improve resource allocation.

He noted that previous estimates of out-of-school children in Kaduna were significantly higher than the actual figure revealed by the mapping exercise. This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, ensuring that no child is left behind in education.
