FG Charges Three in Oyo Kidnapping Case

The Federal Government has arraigned three suspects—Abdulrazak Umar (also known as Abu Khalifa or Abu Khalid), Yunusa Musa (also known as Yunusa bin Musa), and Shamsu Adamu Sani (also known as Abu Itisar)—linked to the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The suspects, all from Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State, were charged before the Federal High Court in Abuja on allegations of terrorism, kidnapping, concealment of information, incitement, and illegal mining.

They were arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) following investigations into the kidnapping incident that occurred between January and May 2026. The Federal Government filed 10 counts against them, alleging conspiracy with other individuals to carry out the abduction.

Additionally, the suspects are accused of being members of Darul Salam, an affiliate of the proscribed terrorist group Ansaru. Abdulrazak Umar faces further allegations of using a WhatsApp platform to provide training to terrorist elements.
