According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Nigeria attracted $6.44 billion in foreign capital during the fourth quarter of 2025, reflecting a 26.61% increase from $5.09 billion in the same period in 2024. This inflow also represented a 7.13% rise compared to the $6.01 billion recorded in the third quarter of 2025.
The breakdown revealed that portfolio investments were the dominant component, accounting for $5.49 billion, or 85.14% of the total, while foreign direct investment contributed $357.80 million, representing 5.55%. The financial sector attracted the largest share of capital imports, receiving $3.85 billion (59.75% of total inflow), followed by the product sector with $1.94 billion (30.15%).
The United Kingdom was the leading source of capital, contributing $3.73 billion (57.94%), followed by the United States with $837.91 million (13.00%) and South Africa with $516.96 million (8.02%). Notably, Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc led capital imports with $2.23 billion (34.58% of total inflow).
