Federal Government Launches N50,000 Relief for Vulnerable Nigerians

The Federal Government has begun disbursing N50,000 cash relief to vulnerable Nigerians as part of its National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention. This initiative was announced by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, in a statement on October 30.
The program aims to provide immediate financial assistance to help households cope with the rising costs of food and essential goods. Eligible beneficiaries will receive ₦50,000 monthly, which is intended to ease the burden of living expenses.
Dr Doro mentioned that the initiative would be regularly reviewed in response to changes in living costs, with beneficiaries notified of any adjustments. The ministry is collaborating with licensed digital financial service providers to ensure secure and transparent fund delivery.
Beneficiaries will receive an SMS from these providers to confirm their consent before payments are made directly to their accounts or mobile wallets. The approved providers include ALAT by Wema, MoMo PSB, NairaGram, OPay, and Moniepoint.
