Stakeholders Urged to Strengthen Nigeria's Health System

On Thursday, during the APC Medical Council Health Roundtable Conference held in Abuja, Dr. Iziak Adekunle Salako, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, called on stakeholders to renew their commitment to strengthening Nigeria's health system.

He highlighted the importance of achieving a resilient health system that ensures every Nigerian has access to quality healthcare without financial hardship. Dr.

Salako pointed out the significant progress made but acknowledged the existing gaps that need to be addressed. He emphasized that the health system cannot be built overnight and requires sustained political investment and community ownership.

He referenced the challenges faced by the current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the need for concerted efforts in partnership with state and local governments, as well as civil society, to accelerate progress. The minister also mentioned various programs and initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes, including the BHCPF and the National Malaria Elimination Program.
