Stakeholders Urged to Strengthen Nigeria's Health System

During a health roundtable conference organized by the APC Medical Council in Abuja, Dr. Iziak Adekunle Salako, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, called on stakeholders to renew their commitment to strengthening Nigeria's health system.

He highlighted the importance of ensuring that every Nigerian, regardless of location or income, has access to quality healthcare without financial hardship. Dr.

Salako stressed the need for adequate remuneration and equipment for health workers to enhance care delivery. He pointed out that while significant progress has been made, there are still gaps that need to be bridged to meet the health needs of Nigeria's 230 million population.

He noted that many mothers die during childbirth and children do not reach their fifth birthday due to healthcare costs, which impoverish families. Dr.

Salako emphasized that building a resilient health system requires sustained investment, political will, technical excellence, and community ownership.
