FG Praises Security Agencies for Rescuing Kidnapped Corps Members

On 14 September 2026, the Federal Government commended the efforts of security agencies in rescuing 15 kidnapped corps members. Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande Emmanuel, expressed gratitude during the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) 2026 Batch ‘C’ Pre-Orientation Workshop in Abuja.
He urged serving and prospective corps members (PCMs) to avoid night travel, stating that the prompt response of security agencies demonstrated the country's resilience. Emmanuel noted that the President is pleased with the rescue efforts.
Additionally, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, the Director-General of NYSC, announced plans to decentralize the registration process for corps members by the following year. This initiative aims to allow foreign-trained PCMs to register from home, eliminating the need for multiple trips to orientation camps, thus easing the registration process and reducing travel burdens on families.
