FG Hands Over Enugu Airport to Aero Alliance Limited

The Federal Government of Nigeria completed the handover of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu to Aero Alliance Limited on Thursday. This concession is part of a public-private partnership aimed at financing, rehabilitating, expanding, and managing the airport to meet international safety and efficiency standards.

Governor Peter Mbah described the successful concession as a major breakthrough that opens new economic opportunities for the Southeast region. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, commended President Bola Tinubu and Governor Mbah for their roles in realizing the long-stalled concession plan, which had faced challenges for 20 years.

Keyamo noted that previous administrations struggled to attract bidders for the airport, while Mbah's leadership has reversed this trend. The agreement with Aero Alliance is expected to create new jobs rather than trigger job losses, according to Jobson Ewalefor, Director General of the ICRC.

Saleem Hussain, Managing Director of Aero Alliance, assured that the consortium would leverage its three decades of experience in the aviation sector.
