Enugu Airport Concession Signed by Festus Keyamo

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, officially signed the concession agreement for Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu with Aero Alliance Limited. This public-private partnership aims to modernize airport infrastructure, improve operational efficiency, and attract private sector investment in Nigeria's aviation sector.

The ceremony, attended by Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and representatives from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and the Nigerian Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, marks the formal transfer of operational management responsibilities to the concessionaire. Keyamo described the concession as a breakthrough, noting that previous attempts over two decades had failed.

The concession is expected to enhance investor confidence, with plans for three additional airport concessions across the country. Furthermore, a memorandum of understanding was signed to establish direct flights between Enugu and Guangzhou, China, which is anticipated to boost trade and tourism.

The concession is part of a broader aviation reform program aimed at strengthening regional connectivity and improving passenger experience.
