Nigeria's Health Minister Confirms Ebola Case in FCT

The Federal Government has confirmed a case of Ebola disease in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following laboratory confirmation. Professor Muhammad Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, announced this during a briefing in Abuja.
The patient, a woman who recently arrived in Nigeria from Uganda, is currently receiving treatment at an isolation facility. Before the confirmation of her infection, she had spent several days at a private hospital in Abuja.
The Federal Ministry of Health, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), and the FCT Health and Environmental Services Secretariat are collaborating to contain the infection and prevent further transmission. Contact tracing has identified 44 close contacts, including healthcare workers and caregivers.
Surveillance has been intensified, and the involved hospital is receiving support to enhance infection prevention measures. Pate urged all healthcare facilities to remain vigilant and report suspected cases promptly, while also advising citizens to maintain good hygiene and seek medical attention if exposed.
