Nigerian Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan Safe After Guinea-Bissau Coup

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has been confirmed safe and out of Guinea-Bissau after a military coup overthrew the country's government. The Nigerian government, through its spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa, expressed condemnation of the coup and emphasized the importance of peace and stability in Guinea-Bissau.

Jonathan was in Guinea-Bissau as the head of the West African Elder Forum's election observation mission. The military takeover occurred after the presidential legislative elections, leading to tensions and the suspension of the electoral process.

Nigerian lawmakers have urged the federal government to ensure Jonathan's safe return to Nigeria.
