During a parliamentary session, Deputy Speaker Julius Ihonvbere highlighted the urgent security concerns surrounding Jonathan's situation, emphasizing the need for national attention.

The legislators stressed that every Nigerian abroad, including former leaders, deserves equal protection. The House eventually passed a motion directing the government to engage diplomatic and security channels to bring Jonathan back home safely.
