Nigeria Declares May 27-28 Public Holidays for Eid ul Adha

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared May 27-28, 2026, as public holidays in observance of the Eid ul Adha celebration. This announcement was made on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Dr.

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a press release signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalen Ajani.

The declaration reflects the government's respect for the faith and spiritual heritage of millions of Nigerian Muslims who will join the global Islamic community in observing this significant occasion. The Minister conveyed warm felicitations from the federal government to the Muslim community in Nigeria and the diaspora, noting the deep spiritual significance and values of sacrifice and obedience to God associated with Eid ul Adha.

Furthermore, the government urged Nigerians to use this period for prayer, sober reflection, and seeking divine guidance for peace, security, and prosperity in the country, emphasizing the spirit of brotherhood and unity among all citizens.
