Nigeria Partners with World Toilet Organization for Sanitation

On May 19, 2026, the Federal Ministry of Water Resources in Nigeria hosted Dr. Jack Sim, the founder of the World Toilet Organization, in Abuja to strengthen efforts aimed at improving sanitation and hygiene nationwide.

The meeting, attended by Dr. Emanso Okop Umobong, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, and other top management officials, focused on advancing the Clean Nigeria Campaign and exchanging global best practices in sanitation solutions.

Dr. Umobong acknowledged the ongoing partnership with the World Toilet Organization and highlighted Nigeria's commitment to ending open defecation.

The discussion also addressed challenges such as rapid urban population growth and the need for collaboration among government, private sector, and civil society to achieve sustainable sanitation outcomes. Mr.

Habu Jamilu commended Dr. Sim's contributions to global sanitation advocacy, while Mr.

Chizoba Opara expressed appreciation for the support towards the Clean Nigeria Campaign.
