FG and World Bank Collaborate on Water and Food Security

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the World Bank to accelerate access to safe water and enhance food security. This was stated by Terhemen Oraduen, the Assistant Media Public Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation, during a meeting on Wednesday.

Joseph Utsev, the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, assured the World Bank delegation, led by Zack Zieglhif, the Task Team Leader for the Sustainable Power Irrigation Nigeria Project, of Nigeria's participation in the upcoming Africa Water Forum scheduled for next month in N'Djamena, Chad. The partnership with the World Bank is critical to the Tinubu administration's priorities in the water and agricultural sectors, focusing on expanding access to potable water and strengthening food production through irrigation agriculture.

The project aims to modernize irrigation infrastructure, improve water resource management, and increase agricultural productivity, thereby supporting Nigeria's drive towards food security and job creation.
