FG Empowers 239,726 Youths with Skills via NiYA

The Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, announced that the Federal Government has successfully equipped 239,726 Nigerian youths with digital, employability, and practical skills through the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA). This announcement was made during an address in Abuja on International Youth Day 2026, themed “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.” Olawande emphasized the government's commitment to providing young Nigerians with relevant skills and expanding access to economic opportunities.

He noted that 1,215,203 certificates have been downloaded from the NiYA platform, indicating increased engagement with the Academy's offerings. The minister also revealed that the NiYA StartUp initiative has supported 200 young business owners with ₦1 million each and another 200 in the informal sector with ₦500,000 each.

Additionally, a partnership with Cascador Founders aims to enhance support for young entrepreneurs. Permanent Secretary Dr. Maryam Ismaila Keshinro praised the resilience of Nigerian youths and stressed the importance of continued investment in youth development.
