Nigeria Advocates for Modern Shooting Ranges in Abuja

The Nigerian government, alongside senior professionals from defense, security, and law enforcement agencies, has called for the development of modern shooting ranges to enhance marksmanship and operational readiness. This appeal was made during a national regional defense shooting range development workshop held in Abuja on Tuesday.

General Christoph Musa (rtd), the Minister of Defence, described modern shooting ranges as critical national security infrastructure. Air Vice Marshal Amo Bulu (rtd), a special advisor on technology and digital integration, emphasized that innovative defense infrastructure must extend beyond technology to include a collaborative mindset for improvement.

The workshop highlighted that modern shooting ranges are no longer just open spaces but require meticulous planning, robust safety systems, and environmental controls. Major General Babatunde Ibrahim Alaya reinforced the importance of modern infrastructure for defense training, while Ibrahim Garba, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DICON, noted the need for improved training facilities to align with contemporary threats.
