Nigerian Government Defends Creation of New Federal Universities Despite Ban

The Nigerian Federal Government clarified the establishment of three new federal universities in Lagos, Kaduna, and Rivers states, citing public concerns and the need to fulfill promises. The decision to create these universities was made following the approval of the President and the adoption of a seven-year suspension policy.

The move was seen as breaching the moratorium on new university establishments. Additionally, the transfer of a federal institute in Kaduna State was announced during a formal handover ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
