Nigerian Extradited to U.S. Over Sextortion-Linked Death

The Federal Government of Nigeria extradited 26-year-old Adewale to the United States to face charges related to the alleged sextortion-linked death of a young man in Pennsylvania. This extradition occurred on February 13, 2026, following Adewale's arrest in Nigeria on August 17, 2023, as part of a joint operation targeting sexual extortionists preying on minors in the U.S.

Adewale appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Lynn Sitarski in federal court in Philadelphia.

The case is being investigated by the FBI's Philadelphia office, with assistance from the Abington Township Police Department. Adewale's co-defendants, Imoleayo Samuel Aina (27) and Samuel Olasunkanmi Abiodun (26), were also extradited, with Abiodun pleading guilty to money laundering and wire fraud, receiving a five-year sentence in June 2025.

Aina later pleaded guilty to cyberstalking and was sentenced to six years in prison in October 2025. This case reflects Nigeria's intensified cooperation with international authorities to combat cybercrime, particularly sextortion.
